Daiwa Sealine Downrigger Combo

This is a great rod, reel & line combo if you are downrigger trolling for salmon in Puget Sound and many of the marine areas along the Pacific Coastline. We matched up a great trolling rod with a time-tested line-counter reel from Daiwa.

The Rod

We start with a Daiwa North Coast Downrigger rod, which is purposefully designed for this technique. The 9' model which is easy to maneuver in more compact areas of smaller boats and can handle everything from smaller Coho and Pink Salmon to the biggest Chinook!

The Reel

We pair the rod with a Daiwa Sealine Linecounter 20 levelwind reel, it's a great option for trolling but the linecounter feature makes it a versatile choice that doubles it up for salmon mooching. Size 20 is compact and easy to handle, but still gives you enough line for most trolling situations.

The Line

As a package, we will spool it with P-Line EndurX Braid 50 lb with a 25' topshot of 40 pound copolymer to give you something to attach your downrigger clip to, and space your gear back with ease.
