Okuma SST 10'6" Plunking Combo
This is the perfect plunking setup for all but the largest rivers of the West Coast. We love the versatility of this setup, as you can comfortably land a large tributary Spring Chinook, a coastal Wild Steelhead, or take it out plunking for Pink Salmon. The line counter is becoming almost a necessity amongst the diehard plunkers, as they use it to accurately get back to the exact zone where they last got bit.. as you know with plunking, finding then staying in the travelling lane of Salmon and Steelhead is a plunker's most important task.
The Rod
Okuma SST Carbon Grip casting rod, 10'6" 2-piece with a line rating of 15-50 pound and able to cast plunking sinkers 1-6 ounces.
The Reel
Okuma Coldwater Line Counter 20 is a great reel for plunking. Smooth casting with medium size plunking sinkers and a line counter that will allow you to know exactly how far out you are when you get bit. Choose between right-hand and left-hand retrieve.
The Line
If your preference is mono/copolymer lines, let's spool it up with P-Line CXX Strong 20 pound test. Nowadays, braided lines are the top choice for plunking, as they cast further, have better sensitivity, and cut through the currents better which allows for lighter sinkers.
